What Is Resveratrol
Resveratrol is also produced
synthetically and this is what consumers find in a number of
nutritional supplements which they extract from the Japanese knotweed.
Initially, resveratrol was detected in the skin of red grapes in its
most abundant supply which brought the discussion of the so called "French Paradox" to the surface.
Resveratrol has been contributed to deliver a number of he alth
benefits, which include anti-cancer, anti-inflammatory,
blood-sugar-lowering and other beneficial cardiovascular effects which
whilst proven on mice have yet to be replicated in human clinical
trials.
Medical journals do report sociological effects this
ingredient has within a number of communities, but as yet there is still
no established medical data in the Western world which has been
approved by the FDA, the authoritative agency in the U.S., which
determines which products deliver credible results.
However,
there is significant evidence whilst not acknowledged by the FDA
dating back centuries where communities have been administering
resveratrol based supplements to treat a number of ailments.
Okinawa is a prime example, as this community has been using resveratrol
found in their local knotweed to help lower lipid levels, assist in
anti-inflammatory treatments and medicinally treat Hepatitis for
generations.
Home to the largest population of centenarians in the world,
Sardinians also consume resveratrol in their daily diet found in their
locally grown red wine, as by not using pesticides you don''t restrict
the growth of this polyphenol.
Both communities in fact hold
persuasive statistics which suggests whilst resveratrol is not an FDA
administered drug in the U.S. there is definite potential that the key
will be unlocked relatively quickly.
Glaxo Smith Kline, the
manufacturer of Alli - Americas most popular weight loss pill - has
now taken over the rights to resveratrol to try and ascertain how best
it can be formulated and for what specific treatments.
Due to its anti-inflammatory qualities, resveratrol provides both weight loss attributes, and has also delivered longevity results
in mice by up to 30%. One interesting fact is that if you come from
Okinawa you stand an 85% less chance of developing cancer than if you
were born and raised in the U.S.
So whilst all these potential health benefits remain to be fully understood - it\'s clear that resveratrol certainly suggests it holds qualities which are waiting to be unraveled.
